SCIS is a Guinness World Record holder and an International School Award winner at 37
Lest we forget the ingenuity and heroism manifested by teachers across the world during the peak of lockdown in 2020.
It is quite easy to get drawn to it all and be drowned in the inequalities, gaps and uncertainty that the pandemic has now exposed in many walks of life.
While the pandemic indeed caused significant disruption to socio-economic planning, growth and development, the pandemic also exposed opportunities for new learning and innovation, and education is at the forefront of the new sense of urgency.

Can you imagine winning a Guinness World Record Certificate and British Council International School Award during the Pandemic? In this update, we share the story of Scholars’ Crest International School, one of three schools to be awarded a Guinness World Record Certificate during the pandemic. The other schools are Broadway Junior School and Hubert Ogunde Memorial School which is named after the great Dr. Hubert Adedeji Ogunde.
About SCIS
As we often say here at DNG, Scholar’s Crest International School is simply the best school in Lagos State that you have NEVER heard of.
Scholars’ Crest International School, formerly Little Scholars, was founded by Mrs Olubunmi Runsewe in 1985.
Scholars’ Crest International School joined thousands of schools across the globe to execute Safer Internet Day in 2020. A creative feat that contributed to a new Guinness World Record. The school was also awarded an International School Award by The British Council, through the Council’s Connecting Classrooms programme in the same year.
According to the school’s official website, the school started in 1985 with only fifteen pupils, four teachers and one support staff. At the time, the school was called Little Scholars’. The name of the school was changed in from Little Scholars’ to Scholars’ Crest International School in 2006 following the introduction of the Universal Basic Education (UBE).
So often, we praise the big names ignoring the great job that many smaller schools are doing in Lagos State and for Lagos State and Nigeria at home and abroad. We want to use this medium to wish the Proprietress and Education Director and all the employees of Scholars’ Crest International school a wonderful anniversary.
